On behalf of our clients, we are seeking a compliance-conscious 50/50 sharemilker who is eager to contribute to the ongoing growth and development of this farm.

The 93ha property has a target of 220-240 cows, with average milk production over the past four years reaching around 80,000 kgMS, showing an upward trend. Preference will be given to those with a cross-bred herd, with a 5th-10th July planned start of calving and a succinct calving pattern. Historically, milk production has been supported by feeding home-grown silage and a summer crop (currently chicory), along with some purchased hay.

The farm owners are looking for someone who is progressive and willing to assist with repairs and maintenance. They have been committed to farm development, working on waterlines and supply, drainage, and pasture renovation over the past four years. A new 24 aside herringbone cowshed and effluent system were built four years ago.

The owners are open to considering a first-time sharemilker. The farm is expected to be run with 1.5-2 FTE, with a strong preference for the sharemilkers to be fully dedicated to farm work, with no outside employment.

Currently the farm supplies Synlait, but will transition to Fonterra in the second year of the contract. The farm will not be Synlait Lead with Pride certified unless the sharemilker is interested in pursuing this certification.

The successful applicant will:

  • Have a minimum of 3 years of dairy management experience
  • Have excellent pasture management and feed planning knowledge
  • Be organised and reliable
  • Ensure all aspects of health and safety are managed
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Have experience working with a farm adviser and be comfortable with this as an ongoing structure

Applicants must be eligible to work in New Zealand, be drug free, and provide an up-to-date CV with references, including their current employer.

Applications close: 12th January 2025 - please note that all applications will be reviewed following the closing date, due to the Christmas holiday closedown period.
