Are you ready for your next step in the dairy industry? A great opportunity has become available for a motivated and experienced dairy professional to join a well-established 70 ha (68 ha effective) property between Taupiri and Orini.

The owners are seeking the right person to take on this rewarding role as a Lease Farmer, 50/50 Sharemilker, or Contract Milker, starting January/February 2026. You’ll be supported by practical and engaged owners who value communication, animal welfare, and efficiency. This is an excellent chance to be part of a tidy, productive farming operation with modern systems and a positive on-farm culture.

Operating as a System 4–5, the farm currently milks 200 Friesian cows through a 24-aside herringbone cowshed equipped with in-shed feeding, auto drafting gates, and adjacent feedpad. The herd is autumn-calving (mating June–August) and targets 100,000 kg MS this season. Feed is supported by grass and maize silage, high-protein meal, and hay as needed, while all young stock are grazed off-farm at the run-off. The property also includes calf sheds featuring a river rock system, ensuring excellent drainage and animal comfort.

The successful applicant will demonstrate:

  • Proven dairy management experience (System 4–5 preferred)
  • Excellent pasture management and feed planning skills
  • Attention to animal health, production, and detail
  • Confidence with farm technology, interest in Cow Manager
  • Strong communication, record keeping, and leadership ability
  • Honesty, reliability, and a proactive work ethic
  • Commitment to health and safety and tidy on-farm standards
  • (For Contract Milkers) A genuine interest in progressing to sharemilking

The farm maintains high standards of presentation and performance, with the owners actively encouraging ongoing improvement and efficiency. Remuneration, stock, and equipment arrangements will be negotiated based on experience and position.

The property includes a well-maintained three-bedroom hardie plank weatherboard home, fully insulated and fitted with a heat pump and detached double garage. Located just 30 minutes from Hamilton, the farm offers the benefits of a thriving rural community alongside convenient access to schools and city amenities.

This is a genuine opportunity to be part of a supportive, forward-thinking dairy business in a great location. If you’re looking for your next farming challenge and want to work alongside owners who value progress and communication, we’d love to hear from you.

Applicants must be eligible to work in New Zealand, be drug free, and provide an up-to-date CV with references, including their current employer.
