50/50 SHAREMILKING OPPORTUNITY – Whangarei, Northland

An outstanding opportunity awaits a motivated Sharemilker to take the next step and build a strong partnership with supportive farm owners on a well-established Puhipuhi dairy farm.

This high performing dairy operation is on productive flat soils, with a proven autumn calving system. A 600kgMS/day winter milk contract and excellent infrastructure underpin the strong profitability of the established farm system.

The Farm Owners are prepared to assist the successful Sharemilker with the transition to autumn calving and are open to either a full autumn-calving or split-calving system, provided the winter milk contract is achieved.

Mentoring, livestock and financial support may be available for the right candidate.

The Farm

· 165 effective ha

· Up to 480 cows, with either full autumn-calving or split-calving considered.

· Stocking rate is based on Jersey cows; proposed herd numbers will need to reflect cow breed, liveweight, and the overall farm system.

· 210,000 kgMS production

· 40-aside herringbone cowshed

· Covered feed pad for 480 cows

· 300t DM maize storage bin

· 10-bay calf rearing shed

· 24m x 12m implement/fertiliser storage shed

· 10m x 10m workshop

· System 4 utilising maize, grass silage and PKE with an emphasis on pasture management and profit

· Replacements grazed by Farm Owner on nearby 75ha runoff

We're Looking For

· Proven pasture, feed and farm systems management expertise 

· Strong animal husbandry skills and a commitment to excellent animal welfare outcomes

· Effective staff management and organisational skills 

· Strong farm business, budgeting and financial management capability 

· A commitment to health, safety and environmental best practice

· A high standard of farm maintenance, presentation and cleanliness 

· Excellent record keeping, reporting and communication skills 

· The ability to work collaboratively with farm owners to achieve agreed production and business goals
