50|50 Sharemilker - Ngatea
On behalf of our clients we are seeking a 50/50 sharemilker that is compliance conscious and keen continue the positive growth and development of this farm.
Target cow numbers for the 93ha property are 220-240 cows. The last four years have averaged around 80,000 kgMS, with an upwards trend. Preference will be given to a cross-bred herd, with a 5th-10th July planned start of calving and succinct calving pattern.
Historically milk production has been met through feeding of home-grown silage, and a summer crop (chicory currently), with some hay brought in.
The farm owners are keen to have someone on board that is progressive and willing to support repairs and maintenance as they are committed to developing the farm, they have been continually working on waterlines and supply, drainage and pasture renovation over the past 4 years. A new 24 aside herringbone cowshed and effluent system where built 4 years ago.
The farm owners are will consider a first-time sharemilker. There is an expectation that the farm is run with 1.5-2 FTE, with a strong preference for the sharemilkers to be working on farm, with no outside work.
Currently Synlait supply however, changing to Fonterra in year two of the contract. The farm will not be Synlait Lead with Pride certified unless this is something you are interested in pursuing.
The successful applicant will:
Ø Have a minimum of 3 years of dairy management experience
Ø Have excellent pasture management and feed planning knowledge
Ø Be organised and reliable
Ø Ensure all aspects of health and safety are managed
Ø Have excellent communication skills
Ø Have experience working with a farm adviser and be comfortable with this as an ongoing structure

3 bedroom, warm home, with ceiling insulation and underfloor/wall in the living areas. The house comes with a heat pump, all curtains, a dishdraw and vacuum cleaner.
On school bus route to Ngatea for both college and primary school education. Well located for community involvement and sporting activities.
