50:50 Sharemilker - 220 cows (Puketaha)
We are seeking a 50:50 sharemilker for our client’s 220-cow dairy farm located at Puketaha, on the outskirts of Hamilton City. This well laid out 75-hectare property requires a skilled operator who can take pride in the farm and help elevate its performance to the next level.
This system 2 farm targets a peak of 220 cows, through a 16 ASHB cowshed. The is farm has averaged 70,000kgMS over the past two seasons and is on track to reach this target again, utilising the 4-5 hectares of maize grown on-farm. Preference will be given to a Jersey or cross-bred herd.
The ideal applicant will:
- Have a minimum of 3 years dairy farming experience, and 1 year farm management experience
- Have excellent pasture management and feed planning knowledge
- Excel in animal health and husbandry
- Competent with record keeping and using farm application software
- Have a proven track record for tidiness and attention to detail
- Be self-motivated and have good communication skills
- Ensure all aspects of health and safety are managed
